Ghana-based brokerage firm GFX has partnered with Libeara, a regulated tokenization platform backed by Standard Chartered Ventures, to explore the digitization of government-issued financial instruments. The collaboration, announced at the Singapore FinTech Festival, aims to expand access to high-quality investments across Africa.

Millions of Africans remain excluded from investing in their own country’s development due to high minimum investment thresholds. Government bonds and similar instruments are often accessible only to institutions and wealthy individuals, leaving retail investors without stable savings products or wealth-building opportunities.

Tokenization presents a solution by converting traditional financial instruments into digital tokens. This innovation could lower barriers to entry, allowing broader participation in capital markets. The partnership signals a shift toward democratizing finance in emerging markets, where operational costs have historically favored institutional investors.
